ŽIŽKOVSKÝ MASOPUST 16.2.2010

 

Here is our tip for your Tuesday afternoon 16.2.2010, come to experience both the spirit of masopust carnival and Žižkov district.

Masopust celebrations always come to their final and the most colourful phase on Tuesday before the Ash Wednesday when people in masks gather and start the carnival procession.

Meeting of the procession is at 16:00 at Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad and the mask procession sets off at 17:00.

 

 

First stop is at Mahler’s gardens, you will see short performances and dances; the traditional Žižkov music band will join he procession, play songs and sing and famed commander Jan Žižka with his group of God warriors will meet the procession too.
The next stop is at Žižkov Town Hall which will be occupied by the procession that will gain reign over Žižkov for one night. During the whole procession you will have plenty of opportunities to drink beer for free and taste the traditional Masopust dishes.
