We would like to invite you all on the Czech film seminar which is organized by International club of Charles University already for the third time. This is also a message for those students who already spend last semester with us: Film club continues and again it will present you new Czech films we haven't shown screened yet.
Film club will be held every Wednesday evening the room nr. 200, in the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts (Nám. Jana Palacha 2).
The aim of this every week informal meeting is to present you all the best of Czech filmography, the films that became a cult in the Czech Republic and which were also appreciated internationally. Some of them have exceptional art value, some of them conserve and explain particular historical periods yet another greatly reflects Czech character. All of them are in original version with English subtitles and the entrance is for free.
First projection will be held on Wednesday 3rd March at 7 p.m. We will show you one of the Czech films that won Oscar for the best foreign film and which also won Golden globe for the best film of the year in 1996: „Kolya“. It’s a charming movie which is well depicting the atmosphere in Czech Republic in late communist era, several years before Velvet revolution that marked the end of Soviet rule.
To see more information about the film or about its creators (famous Svěráks father and son duo), see following link. http://www.sverak.cz/en/films/kolya
