Golem is a famous creature that Rabbi Loew is said to have created during the reign of Rudolf II in Prague. Your task will be to search in groups in the old Jewish part of Prague for the magic artifact that brings Golem to life. Here is our tip for your Tuesday afternoon 16.2.2010, come to experience both the spirit of masopust carnival and Žižkov district.

Masopust celebrations always come to their final and the most colourful phase on Tuesday before the Ash Wednesday when people in masks gather and start the carnival procession.

Meeting of the procession is at 16:00 at Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad and the mask procession sets off at 17:00.

Trip to the advent markets in Vienna, Austria

We're organizing a weekend trip to Vienna, the capital of Austria. In the time before Christmas there are many opportunities to enjoy various advent markets in the city - we will visit some of them as well as the historic city centre and the well known Schönbrunn castle.

There will be some free time for shopping in the surroundings of the biggest shopping street of Vienna, the 'Maria-Hilfer-Straße'.

Vienna is a city known for its museums, rich history and modern architecture and we can advise you on that.

MEETING POINT:
parking place at Ceskomoravska - just in front of the stadium, leave the underground station with the crowd and find us there at 17:30-17:45 (the match starts at 18:15, we shall leave for the arena at 17:45) (Dec. the 4th, of course)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: You are NOT allowed to have bigger cameras than ordinary small compact cameras. Those who will have big(profi looking) cameras/videocameras will be prevented from entering!!!

Trip to Poland

Come with us to the beautiful city of Krakow and to the very impressive museum of holocaust at Auschwitz-Birkenau. We will leave Prague in the evening of Thursday, 3. 12. at 8pm and we will come back early morning of Monday 7.12. Thus we will spend two nights in the train and three days with two nights in Krakow.

The price of trip is 2800 CZK and it includes train transportation from Prague and back, accomodation in Krakow (our hostel is located on the main square), transportation and guided tour in the Auchwitz-Birkenau museum of holocaust, admission and guided tour to the Wawel castle and admission fees to the Jewish Museum and Old Synagogue. We will also go for a traditional Polish dinner on Sunday evening. It is possible to order a sleeping berth in the train for additional 350 CZK.

Hiking trip to Budeč and Okoř

Come to see with your own eyes the places from Czech legends. We will visit the oldest church in our country and the medieval castle Okoř. It will be an easy hike through nature (6 km in total), but you will need good water-proof shoes and clothes. The weather is unpredictable this time of year ;-)

Do you want to see an ice hockey match? And if you do, why not to visit the most thrilling one! December the 4th, 18:15, the derby of Prague Slavia vs. Sparta in a modern O2 Arena where the last World Championship in the Czech Republic took place! The price for one ticket is 150 crowns. Those who want me to get the tickets for them, meet me on Monday 23rd November 15:40-16:00 at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, main building (namesti Jana Palacha 2, Praha 1, just above metro station Staromestska) , by the Erasmus Club board.
